ABOUT US

Race Specific Coaching for Gravity Riders

Hello and welcome to the Gravity School. Founded by Jack Reading in 2015, Gravity School has been racing downhill and operating an international level race team since its inception. With World Cup top 10 results, a world championship medal, national series race and series wins and lots of podiums, the Gravity School has enjoyed many years of success through its various team riders.

Gravity School Coaching specialises in race specific coaching for gravity mountain biking. Using an uplift service, a live timing system, video analysis including follow camera GoPro footage and hand held track side footage, and specific detailed rider feedback, our coaching is extremely thorough and works to improve every element of a rider’s race craft. We also work with our riders to improve their supplementary skills and focus points for racing, such as visualisation, mental preparation, diet, strength and conditioning in the gym and rest and recovery patterns.

We operate coaching sessions at a private training compound in the UK, and at our brand-new Racing Centre in Portugal, where we use tracks specifically designed and maintained by TrailTools, to offer riders the highest possible level of coaching. Features are specifically built to challenge riders and prepare them for racing on the international circuit during the racing season. Our live timing system and leader board helps us to simulate racing, and create a similar “pressure” in the coaching environment.

Head coach Jack has enjoyed a 14 year long career racing world cups and enjoys sharing all of his hard earned knowledge with the riders being coached in the Gravity School. Starting racing in 2006 and coming up through the ranks of senior, expert and then elite, to start racing world cups 4 years later and then turn finally turn pro in 2014, Jack did it the hard way and knows how tough it is to make it to the top of the sport. Using this experience to help the riders in the Gravity School to chase and achieve their dreams in the sport is extremely rewarding for Jack and makes him an extremely passionate coach.

As a coach, communication is key, and Jack prides himself on being able to analyse a rider, breaking down the techniques that they need to work on and improve, and then be able to communicate this to the rider in a way that they can understand and relate to. Another important part of the coaching are the demonstrations. Even though Jack has retired from world cup racing he still races internationally, winning the Portugal Cup series in 2024, and can therefore provide the athletes with clear on bike demonstrations of how they can aim to ride certain sections of track. Jack also provides the riders with a “time to aim for” when timed sessions are running, as well as being able to follow riders with the GoPro camera to capture the footage needed for detailed analysis after a practice or timed run.

Gravity School leaves no stone unturned when it comes to gravity mountain bike coaching, and aims to help all of our riders get the best from their riding and racing, as well as create as many future world champions as possible. Gravity School has a professional international race team that riders can strive to one day ride for, as well as a scholarship program which acts as a stepping stone between our regular coaching sessions and the professional race team.

We look forward to coaching you soon!
